Heads up: this coming Sunday, May 13th is Mother’s Day, a perfect time to be in one of our SC vacation rentals.  You’ve probably already surmised this from the myriad of Mom gift references flooding your inbox… from Groupon, Bouqs, Proflowers, FTD, you name it. Word to the wise, honor your mother and thank her for all she’s done for lo, these many years.  Although you may not be headed to one of our Isle of Palms vacation rentals this year, why not consider a giving her a gift certificate for a future stay in a Charleston beach house?  Most moms like nothing more than family spending time together, and a beach house Charleston is the perfect place to all assemble and spend quality time across the generations. Believe it or not, Mother’s Day is second only to Christmas as far as the amount spent on a holiday.  According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $23.1 billion this year on their moms.  Whew, that’s a lot of flowers, jewelry, dinners, cards, spa visits, or stays in one of our Isle of Palms luxury rentals!  Apparently people between the ages of 35 and 44 tend to spend the most on Mom. Read more about it and other business news in the Post & Courier.

Dance the night away tonight or tomorrow near our SC vacation rentals

As I’ve mentioned in previous blogs, the Mount Pleasant Pier under the Ravenel Bridge hosts some great outdoor series during the summer.  Both tonight and tomorrow are such events. Tonight (Friday, May 11th) it’s a dance party called the Friday Night Boogie with DJ Jim Bowers.  It will happen from 7:00 till 11:00 p.m. and is only for those aged 21 and over in your luxury house on Isle of Palms. Then, tomorrow night (Saturday, May 12th) it’s the latest installment of Shaggin’ on the Cooper with live music from the Shem Creek Boogie Band.  Gates for that open at 7:00 p.m. with the music starting at 8:00. Tickets are $8 advance or $10 at the gate, if there are any left.  These events often sell out.  Read more about it here, where you can also purchase tickets in advance. The Mount Pleasant Pier at Waterfront Memorial Park is a super pleasant drive from all our beach house rentals Charleston SC.

Go Greek near our SC vacation rentals

Opa!  The festivals keep coming on down the pike. This weekend is one of Charleston’s oldest, not to mention most exuberant and delicious.  It’s the 48th annual Charleston Greek Festival, and it’s going on today through Sunday (May 11th through the 13th). Think gyros (veggie, lamb, chicken or shrimp)… spanakopita… dolmades… Greek salad… pastichio… moussaka… Greek chicken… keftedes… and don’t forget the pastries!  They include: baklava, finikia, koulourakia, kataife, kourabiedes, paximadia, bougatsa, and loukoumades.  Thankfully there are translations and descriptions here. There will be all things Greek  -  Greek food of course, Greek music, dancing and performances by The Athens Trio,  Icarus,  Asterakia, Kyklonakia and Pegasus.  Also keep an eye peeled for vendors selling Greek clothes, jewelry, art and Greek music CDs, as well as Greek wine tastings, Hellenic cultural events and tours of the historic Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity.  Sunday morning you can also take part in a Liturgy, or Greek Orthodox service, in the church. Admission is $5 general, $3 for seniors & students.  It’s FREE for kids 12 and under, active military, and all moms on Mother’s Day. Hours are 5:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. Friday, 11:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Saturday, then noon till 6:00 p.m. on Sunday (Mother’s Day). It takes place at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 30 Race Street in downtown Charleston.  It’s convenient to all our beach rentals Charleston. There’s free parking and a free shuttle leaving from Harborview Office Tower at 19 Hagood Avenue.  Buses will run every 10 minutes.  That is also very convenient to all our rental homes South Carolina, and saves you the hassle of finding parking downtown. Here’s the official website.  And here’s their fun Facebook page. So even though you may be here in one of our SC vacation rentals, you can take a nice daytrip to Greece!  And remember to contact EP when you are looking for the best in luxury beach house rentals SC.
