As I blogged about recently, it’s oyster time in the Lowcountry. Oyster roasts are a time-honored local tradition that brings all manner of folk together around a steaming heap of delicious mollusks. Of course the biggie is coming up this Sunday -- the annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival, the largest one in the world (see previous blogs for more info). But there are many other options coming up to help feed and entertain everyone in your Charleston beach house.
Charleston has no shortage of festivals. Seems like the festival craze kicked off in the 1970’s back when Spoleto first started, and it’s since grown into one of the world’s best arts extravaganzas that takes place each May/June. A fairly recent entree on the festival scene is proving to be a real player. It’s the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival... and the fourth annual installment is happening here this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th.
