Charleston has no shortage of festivals. Seems like the festival craze kicked off in the 1970’s back when Spoleto first started, and it’s since grown into one of the world’s best arts extravaganzas that takes place each May/June. A fairly recent entree on the festival scene is proving to be a real player. It’s the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival... and the fourth annual installment is happening here this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th.

They actually have a staggering number of different 10 Best Lists for Charleston alone. I’ve never seen so many in one place, and they are surprisingly helpful.
There are many things that draw people to the Charleston area, and one of the best-known and most beloved is Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.
The bells and clock of St. Michael’s Church downtown are turning 250 years old(!), and they have a special public events and a service commemorating their history. They will also be ringing them throughout the day.
