Well, while much of the east coast deals with a whopper of a winter storm named Jonas, those lucky enough to be in a luxury house on Isle of Palms are no doubt breathing a sigh of relief.
Although we’ve had some rain here on the island, it’s nothing like what the areas north of us are dealing with now and in the coming days. North Carolina, Virginia, and now DC are getting hammered by some serious snowfall.
It’s a reminder that the so-called "offseason" for SC vacation rentals, be they Isle of Palms luxury rentals or a Folly Beach house Charleston, is a great time to secure a Charleston beach house. Just because we aren’t having any frozen precipitation, though, doesn’t mean that air traffic in and out of Charleston isn’t affected. American Airlines announced all flights in and out of Charlotte today were halted, and they won’t be flying to Washington DC or Phillie tomorrow. This of course has a ripple effect on flights all over the country, including here at CHS.

Yet more festivals near your luxury house on Isle of Palms
Well, we are now fully into festival season, as I covered in THIS blog and also THIS one…and a couple of smaller ones are happening in the next few days.
First up, this weekend is the Charleston International Jazz Festival, and some very talented folks will be bringing smooth sounds to the Holy City.
It kicks off today at the Woolfe Street Playhouse located at 34 Woolfe Street downtown. Performers include the John Thornton Quartet, Rad Western, the Frank Duvall Quartet, Lowcountry Legends Jazz Band, and the all-female sextet, Ladies of Jazz.
Tomorrow, the main event is at Gaillard, where the famous singer/pianist Diane Schuur will perform with the Charleston Jazz Orchestra, followed by the Cuban trumpet master Arturo Sandoval.
Sunday caps off the festival with Family Jazz Day, from 3:00 till 5:00 at the Sottile Theater, featuring the Jasmine Saxophone Quartet, the Charleston School of the Arts Jazz Ensemble, and the Charleston All-Star Youth Jazz Orchestra. This event is free, although tickets are required (see link below).
Ticket prices for the different events during the festival range from $15 to $80. There are also free jam sessions, however, at 10:00 tonight and tomorrow (Saturday) night, at Barsa. Barsa is located at 630 King Street and is an easy drive from all our beach rentals Charleston.

Then, this coming Wednesday through Saturday is the 13th annual Charleston Comedy Festival. It’ll take place at various venues around the city and is organized by the funny folks at Theatre 99.
This year there are 16 different shows and three headliners: Bridget Everett, Matt Jones and T. J. Miller.
