You’ll have your choice of festive libation this Saturday, and first up is the Charleston Summer Wine Festival. The Wine Festival is in its very first year, so it’ll be fun to check out and gauge its likelihood of becoming an annual event. It’s put on by the fine folks at Charleston Wine Festivals, so it has a good shot.

Some specs on the Charleston Summer Wine Festival

 

  • Over 50 wines, plus mimosas and beer as well;
  • Live music plus a DJ;
  • Admission includes commemorative acrylic wine glass, all wine and beer samples, entrance and entertainment;
  • Venue: Memminger Auditorium, downtown Charleston at 56 Beaufain Street;
  • 6:00-10:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17th;
  • $50 advance, $60 day of.

Batter (/sipper) up!  It’s the Ballpark Festival of Beers

  If beer’s more your thing, you are definitely in luck. This Saturday is also the 17th annual Ballpark Festival of Beers.  It’s a giant wingding of all things beer, at a super-fun venue  -  The Joe. It’s happening from 7:00-10:00 p.m. and is a 21-and over only event, so leave the kids and teens at home at your luxury house on Isle of Palms. The Joe is Charleston’s beloved baseball park, and this has proven to be a wildly popular event.  A $40 ticket/wristband allows you to sample 18 from among approximately 100 beers.  There will be stouts, pilsners, lagers, you name it, from this country and abroad.  You can also purchase $15 designated driver wristbands.  It’s sponsored by Kickin’ Chicken (where you can buy tickets) as well as iHeart Media. The first 2,500 people through the gates will receive a commemorative tasting glass.
