Charleston has no shortage of festivals. Seems like the festival craze kicked off in the 1970’s back when Spoleto first started, and it’s since grown into one of the world’s best arts extravaganzas that takes place each May/June.

Then there’s SEWE, the largest festival of its kind on the United States. It happens here each February and draws more people than any single event to the Charleston area.

More recently, The Wine + Food Festival cranked up and is already considered a must-see (and must-taste) Charlestonian event. It fills in the calendar nicely in March.

All of these are great times to be here, and there’s no better way to experience them than by staying in one of our SC vacation rentals - either a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston. If you are interested in a Charleston beach house for one of those festivals next year, it is not too early to book now. Even though Feb/March is not peak season for beach rentals Charleston, they do tend fill up early due to such special events. The plus side is, of course, you’ll pay less for our Isle of Palms vacation rentals than you would during peak season…and, you’re guaranteed a full calendar of fun.

A fairly recent entree on the festival scene is proving to be a real player.

It’s the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival... and the fourth annual installment is happening here this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th.

It’s hosted by the Zac Brown Band, and they’ve managed to meld two very cool things - great music and great food. What’s not to like about that?

They start by serving up some of their favorite musicians and groups, such as:

  • Blues Traveler
  • Gov’t Mule
  • Rodrigo y Gabriela
  • Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn
  • Big Head Todd and the Monsters
  • Preservation Hall Jazz Band
  • North Mississippi Allstars
  • The Wailers
  • Greensky Bluegrass
  • Old 97’s
  • Darrell Scott
  • Boy & Bear
  • Coy Bowles and the Fellowship
  • John Driskell Hopkins & Brighter Shade
  • Clay Cook
  • Run River North
  • Ashley Monroe
  • St. Paul & the Broken Bones
  • Steep Canyon Rangers
  • Secret Sisters

Then, they sprinkle in a healthy amount of top-notch chef talent from both near and far. Culinary masters include:

  • Rusty Hamlin, Festival Executive Chef
  • Ken Vedrinski, Trattoria Lucca and Coda del Pesce
  • Patrick Owens, Langdon’s Restaurant + Wine Bar and Opal Restaurant + Wine Bar
  • RJ Cooper, Rogue 24 and Gypsy Soul, Washington DC & Fairfax VA
  • Kelly Kleisner, Oak Steakhouse and The MacIntosh

There will also be a heaping helping of food vendors on hand.

It takes place Saturday and Sunday (starting at noon both days) on Daniel Island, in Blackbaud Stadium.  For your GPS, the address is 1990 Daniel Island Drive. It’s convenient to all our rental homes South Carolina and especially our Isle of Palms luxury rentals.

Here’s the official website, with all the details and ticket info:http://charleston.southerngroundfestival.com/welcome.html

The weather’s great right now, and it’s an excellent time to book one of our beach house rentals Charleston SC. If you come in this weekend, be sure to check out the tunes, food &  fun at Southern Ground.  But you’d better hurry - tickets are selling out super fast on this one.

And as always, give us a holler whenever you’re looking for the best in luxury beach house rentals SC.

All best, Lowcountry Lisa your Isle of Palms vacation blogger
