If you’re in a luxury house on Isle of Palms this week, I hope you remembered to pack something green.

Friday is Saint Patrick’s Day, so be sure to wear green so as not to be pinched by random people.  If you’re here staying in one of our SC vacation rentals, especially one of our Isle of Palms vacation rentals, you may want to head over to Dunleavy’s Pub for an authentic Irish celebration.

It’s located in the commercial district of nearby Sullivan’s Island, just over Breach Inlet from our Isle of Palms luxury rentals.  The address is 2213-A Middle Street.  Just look for the giant emerald crowd.

Dunleavy’s is well known to many as “party central” for the New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge, and this is their other big day of the year.  It’s an especially good outing for the more adult folks staying in your Charleston beach house, as it can get a bit rowdy and adult beverages (read: green beer) are involved.  And I definitely recommend wearing something green.

Other Irish things to do near your luxury house on Isle of Palms

It’s that time of year when we’re all just a wee bit Irish.  Seems you can’t throw a stone without hitting a shamrock, a leprechaun, some cabbage and corned beef.

According to Running USA, there are over 500 races around the country with a St. Patrick’s Day theme, more even than Thanksgiving.

If you’re in one of our rental homes South Carolina, either a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston, and you’re in the mood for some competitive exercise on the theme of green, check out the Catch the Leprechaun 5K Run/Walk in Mount Pleasant.  It’s going on tomorrow – Wednesday, Match 15th at 6:30 p.m.  Here’s the downlow:

Also, check out the Sixth Annual Shamrock SUP Race on Sunday at Folly, complete with afterparty.  Here’s the scoop:

The Big Green Parade, not far from your luxury house on Isle of Palms...

The biggest hoopla is, of course, on the day itself  -  this coming Friday, March 17th.  Downtown Charleston is the site of the official St. Patrick’s Day Parade, now in its 20th year.  It’s presented by the Charleston St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the South Carolina Irish Historical Society, and the Knights of Columbus Council 704.

The celebration starts with 8:00 a.m. mass at St. Patrick Church, 134 St. Philip Street.  The parade begins nearby at 10:00 a.m. at the corner of Radcliffe and King, then travels south down King to Broad, turning right before ending at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (120 Broad Street).  Get set for lots of bands, dancers and bagpipes.

Afterwards, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Irish Society and Mayor John Tecklenburg will raise the Irish flag above City Hall.  Then, feel free to head to any number of restaurants and pubs that will be filled with food and entertainment honoring St. Patty’s.

That evening from 5:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. it’s the Irish Stroll St. Patrick’s Bar Crawl, involving many bars and pubs.   Here’s the info:

All of this takes place downtown, an easy twenty-minute or so drive from all our luxury beach house rentals SC, whether you’re in a luxury house on Isle of Palms or Folly Beach house rentals Charleston SC.

So, you have plenty of options to celebrate with your fellow Irish or Irish-wannabes.  Or, you could just take a more laid-back approach and enjoy a relaxing day making corned beef in your Charleston beach house.

Either way  -  Erin go Braugh, and be safe!

And remember to call EP for the best in beach rentals Charleston.  We’ll connect you with the perfect luxury house on Isle of Palms and try to save you some green in the process.

All best,
