More traffic cams now live near our beach house rentals Charleston SC…

Speaking of live cams… As I blogged about HERE, the South Carolina Department of Transportation has installed cameras at key roads, intersections and bridges all across the state.   You can watch live streaming video on their free app, or their website.  It’s a great help in planning.

Until recently, they only had one live camera heading toward the beaches  -  the very useful one at the traffic light on the Isle of Palms, at the base of the IOP Connector. Well, good news.  They have finally installed and launched several more cameras that will help you navigate to beach rentals Charleston, whatever island they’re on. The new “Charleston Beaches” live traffic cameras include:

  • 415 Ben Sawyer Blvd.;
  • 1456 Ben Sawyer Blvd. northbound;
  • 1456 Ben Sawyer Blvd. southbound (these three are great for traffic on and off Sullivan’s Island);
  • 1098 IOP Connector at Rifle Range Road (coming on or off Isle of Palms from Mount Pleasant);
  • 2115 Folly Road northbound;
  • 2115 Folly Road southbound;
  • 1949 Folly Road northbound;
  • 1949 Folly Road southbound (all four helpful going on or off Folly).

Traffic on and off islands can be tricky.  The Ben Sawyer Bridge also opens for boat traffic, so that’s another thing to consider when planning your route.  These live cameras are a real help and can give you an idea of current traffic conditions heading to and from all our beach house rentals Charleston SC.
