We got rain and wind, a little storm surge in some areas, a few limbs and leaves down, but all in all the islands around Charleston came through amazingly well. There’s no shortage of wonderful charities in the Lowcountry, and they have a knack for coming up with creative ways to raise much-needed funds. One of my personal favorites is the Charleston Animal Society, which does tireless work on behalf of abandoned, injured or abused animals. A few years ago, they opened a state-of-the-art facility in North Charleston, which includes a massive spay/neuter clinic and very user-friendly cat and dog play areas. They launched “No Kill Charleston” - the most bold initiative in the Southeast, working toward the goal of becoming the region’s first no-kill shelter. It’s a lofty goal, but they are well on their way. They can also really use our help. The good folks of the shelter cooked up a great fundraiser, and it’s proven to be so successful, it’s back again this year. It’s a calendar of smokin’ hot firefighters posing with adorable furry friends.o is the Charleston Animal Society - so the combination makes perfect sense. In fact, this is how they put it: “Toby’s Fund provides the medical care necessary to save lives, just like our brave Firefighters do every day!” They host an annual party to launch the next year’s new calendar. It’s one fun event. Or, as the Charleston City Paper has dubbed it, "Best Party of 2014, 2015 and 2016!"
Get set for a rescheduled cool event near our luxury beach house rentals SC
It was supposed to be this past weekend, Saturday September 9th, but alas Irma threw a wrench into those plans. But they have rescheduled it for the end of the month, so you still have a chance to experience a party with a purpose. Saturday night, September 30th, is the new date for the 2018 Firefighter Calendar Debut Party, where all 15 firefighter models will be revealed as they walk the runway. They'll be officially unveiling the new calendar, and you can get yours personally signed. Also, there will be the ever-popular live date auction, sure to be a lot of fun. In past years, news of the calendar went viral, and media from across the globe picked up the story. Tickets are $35 general admission standing room only. At 6:00 p.m. there’s a special VIP-only party with the firefighters, 7:30 p.m. doors open, and the show starts at 8:00 and lasts till 10:30. It takes place at Memminger Auditorium downtown, a convenient drive from all our luxury beach house rentals SC. All proceeds go toward Toby’s Fund, the shelter’s medical fund to treat injured or sick animals. This year’s sponsors include Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Kia Country of Charleston, Anson Restaurant and MIRA Winery.
