Gas prices have been in the news a lot, and thankfully it’s been for good reason. They are dropping, and this summer promises to be the best in many years.
If you’re coming to one of our rental homes South Carolina, whether it’s a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston, chances are you’ll either drive or rent a car while here. Gas prices are a big factor in summer travel to SC vacation rentals or anywhere for that matter. Thankfully, our luxury beach house rentals SC are located in a state with some of the lowest gas prices in the entire country. That means less to spend on petrol - and more to spend on fun things like food, activities, your Charleston beach house, maybe even upgrading to one of our Isle of Palms luxury rentals.
Originally, analysts like GasBuddy had predicted a gallon of regular unleaded would top $3 per gallon this summer. Thankfully, they have backed off that prediction and now it looks as if prices will stay much lower. Crude oil prices have risen, but retailers and refiners have dropped prices to chase consumer demand.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, this summer’s gas prices will be the lowest in SIX YEARS. They will likely be the lowest since 2009.
Prices are around $1.16 per gallon lower than they were last year. Wow… that really can add up!
GasBuddy is now saying that: national average prices will stay below $2.45 a gallon in April, below $2.40 in May and below $2.35 in June.
According to Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy: “We believe we may have already seen the 2015 peak for the U.S. when the national average hit $2.47 a gallon on March 6… Once refineries complete their scheduled maintenance seasons and the switch to summer formulations is complete, their output typically increases.
“Barring any unforeseen events — like refinery breakdowns or hurricanes — current supply-and-demand fundamentals could put more downward pressure on retail prices even during the summer driving season.”
The average price recently for a gallon of regular unleaded in the state of South Carolina was $2.08... the lowest in the country. It’s yet another reason to choose beach house rentals Charleston SC as a vacation destination.
