If you’re in a Charleston beach house right now, you know the weather is about as good as it gets.  Sunny, warm days plus cool nights add up to fun outdoor activities coupled with the energy to do them.

Folks who visit our luxury beach house rentals SC, either Isle of Palms vacation rentals or Folly Beach rentals Charleston, though they are staying at the beach, generally make a trip (or two or ten) onto the downtown peninsula.  After all, proximity to the Holy City is one of the draws of a Charleston beach house.

Weekend Night Market back again near your Charleston beach house

One of the most popular places for visitors to, well, visit, is the historic City Market, between East Bay and Meeting Street.  It’s a great place to find souvenirs, unusual local products, handmade Lowcountry items (including the ever-popular sweetgrass basket), cool jewelry, you name it.

City Market underwent a major renovation not too long ago, and now it’s better than ever.  The lower two buildings are still open-air, but they completely enclosed and climate-controlled the building closest to Meeting Street and really upped the quality of the permanent vendors there.

Well, now that the weather’s warmed back up, the Night Market is officially back in season.  All the buildings will be brimming with local vendors selling their creative wares and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

So if you’re downtown for a weekend dinner or show, stop by and check it out.

By the way, you can feel good about what you purchase there.  Almost 94% of night vendors and 72% of day vendors make goods with material that is either natural (think sweetgrass, shells or wood), reclaimed or recycled.

The Night Market runs from March till December.

A Parks Conservancy birthday near your Charleston beach house

A Parks Conservancy birthday near your Charleston beach house

A party Saturday not far from your Charleston beach house…

Also going on downtown, not far from any of our SC vacation rentals, is a fun 10th birthday party.  You’re invited and you don’t need to bring a gift.

The Charleston Parks Conservancy is a terrific group dedicated to improving public spaces around the Holy City.  Recently they finished a really lovely renovation and restoration of Colonial Lake, one of the older parks around Charleston which was in real need of a makeover.  It is now surrounded with gorgeous new plantings which will only get more beautiful as time passes.

Tomorrow they’re celebrating their one-decade birthday by hosting a big wing ding at Colonial Lake, at 46-54 Ashley Avenue, an easy drive from all our beach house rentals Charleston SC.  Here are the specs:

  • 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25th;
  • Model sailboat races on the lake;
  • Horticultural tour and seed plantings;
  • Kids’ games and activities;
  • Music by DJ Scooby;
  • Hip vittles from food trucks Roti Rolls and Fauzia’s Kitchen;
  • Dogs welcome – and there’ll be a “Bark Angel” costume contest with prizes;
  • Bring a blanket, chairs, and come relax in the park.

Giant yard sale near your Charleston beach house!

Giant yard sale near your Charleston beach house!

And Saturday morning, shop with the locals near your Charleston beach house

If you’re in a beach house Charleston in the morning, namely a luxury house on Isle of Palms, tomorrow morning is a great chance to mingle with the neighbors and snag some great deals in the process.  It’s the annual IOP Community Yard Sale, and it’s a biggie.

It takes place around the Rec Center off 28th Avenue, starting at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25th.

Drafting off the big event, there are a number of other individual yard sale signs popping up as well.  So far I’ve seen notices for ones on 20th Avenue, 24th Avenue, Forest Trail and 41st Avenue.

Happy bargain hunting!  And remember, when you are looking for rental homes South Carolina, namely Isle of Palms luxury rentals, give EP a call.

All best,
