This week, known as Holy Week, is a great time to be in one of our beach rentals Charleston. It’s spring break for many, as we gear up for Easter weekend.
If you’re staying in a beach house Charleston for Easter, there are a few egg-related events going on tomorrow (Saturday, April 15th).
Eggcellent activities on Saturday...
First up, the Isle of Palms is having its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10:00 a.m. sharp at the Rec Center. You can meet the Easter Bunny and check out the jump castles, photo booth, face painting, snow cones and cotton candy. Here’s more: http://www.iop.net/easter-egg-hunt
Two area plantations are having special happenings at no extra charge to their regular admission.
Magnolia Plantation will have their annual Great Easter Egg Hunt with 15,000 eggs stuffed with candy and great prizes. There will be different hunts based on children’s ages, and you should arrive 30 to 45 minutes ahead of time. Here’s a breakdown:
11:00 a.m. - 2 years and under
Noon - 3 to 5 years
1:00 p.m. - 6 to 8 years
2:00 p.m. - 9 to 12 years
Eggbert Hopps, Magnolia’s mascot, will be on hand for pictures. This is a crazy wild guess, but he may be a rabbit. Here’s the plantation website: http://www.magnoliaplantation.com/
Magnolia will also be having an Easter sunrise service Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m., sponsored by Old St. Andrews Parish & St. Andrews Mission Church. Everyone’s welcome, there’s free parking, and you’re free to stay and enjoy the grounds of the plantation at no charge.
Middleton Plantation is also having an egg hunt, visits with the Easter Bunny, egg decoration, egg toss, egg rolls (the activity, not the Asian appetizer), Colonial games, crafts, story time and live animals, also starting at 10:30 tomorrow morning, Saturday the 15th. Here’s their website: https://www.middletonplace.org/
Both these plantations are across Charleston and the Ashley River from our Isle of Palms luxury rentals, but a bit closer to Folly Beach rentals Charleston.
Services near our beach rentals Charleston
The weather for this weekend is looking really good, especially for Easter Sunday. There’s an abundance of great services to choose from, within very close proximity to our SC vacation rentals.
Before I list the schedule, there are a couple worth singling out. First, if you are an early riser, there will be an ecumenical sunrise service taking place on the beach at Breach Inlet. It starts at 6:30 a.m. and you are encouraged to bring a flashlight to make your way safely before the sun rises. It’s always a very popular event so you are encouraged to get there early. This is on Sullivan’s Island, just over the Breach Inlet bridge from your luxury house on Isle of Palms.
Also, St. Andrews Church invites everyone to their annual Easter celebration service, on the grounds of Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, under the giant white tent behind the main house. Gates open at 7:30 with the service itself starting at 9:00 a.m. (actually the music starts even earlier - there’s usually some really good bluegrass music early on. at about 8:30).
This is also very popular - they expect more than 5,000 people, so get there early if possible. If you are staying in a luxury house on Isle of Palms, just cross the Connector and follow the signs (or the cars!) to Boone Hall Plantation. The grounds are gorgeous, and you are free to tour them at no charge after the service is over.
Here’s a full list of island services, as compiled by the Island Eye News...

April is such a great time to stay in one of our rental homes South Carolina, either one of our Isle of Palms vacation rentals or our Folly Beach rentals Charleston. It’s not yet peak season for beach house rentals Charleston SC, so you can save on rates and deal with smaller crowds and less traffic. And the weather is generally marvelous. Some say it’s their favorite time to be in a Charleston beach house.
As always, remember to call EP for the best beach rentals Charleston for your “framily” (i.e., friends and family).
