If you’re staying in one of our beach house rentals Charleston SC, this week marks an important one on the festival calendar. As of May 1st, the Piccolo Spoleto box office is now officially open, as is the Spoleto box office for in-person ticket sales. Piccolo Spoleto has also just announced its festival lineup. As usual they announce their lineup much later than their big sister Spoleto does, no doubt because they have so many more events to coordinate and finalize. Their guide for Piccolo Spoleto 2017 is a whopping 92 pages long! The schedule is available online, and there’s a myriad of great things to choose from. As usual, it’s actually a bit of over-choice. Here’s a link to the new Piccolo Festival schedule.

You never know what kind of up-and-coming talent you might discover at Piccolo. Why, a little over a decade ago, a young and relatively unknown comic named Amy Schumer was the warm-up act for Isaac Witty in a Piccolo Spoleto event. In the years since, she’s won an Emmy for her multi-season series on Comedy Central, wrote and starred in a couple major movies and wowed HBO with her specials, and has sailed back into Charleston, headlining her own show at the North Charleston Coliseum. Piccolo runs concurrently with Spoleto, and this year it’s Friday, May 26th through Sunday, June 11th. The City of Charleston runs Piccolo through its Office of Cultural Affairs, located at 75 Calhoun Street, Suite 3800. You can pick up a printed version of the program guide in their office, at the Gaillard, at the Visitor’s Center, or call them at (843) 724-7305 and they’ll snail mail you one. Here’s the official website with access to all the events: You can search by date or by category - festival traditions, literary & ideas, music, theatre & dance, or visual arts. Spoleto season is a very popular time for beach house rentals Charleston SC, be they Isle of Palms vacation rentals or Folly Beach rentals Charleston. A Charleston beach house is an easy drive from Spoleto or Piccolo events - most of which take place on the downtown peninsula - while also providing you with a beach vacation at the same time. If you are interested in one of our SC vacation rentals, you’d best call ASAP. Spoleto tickets have been available online for some time, as I’ve covered in THIS BLOG. But also as of this week, the local box office is now open for in-person ticket sales. There are also several ways to purchase tickets… in person, on the phone or online. Here are the particulars:
