Get Over It!  (The Ravenel Bridge, that is, in one of the country's best races.)

Cooper River Bridge Run

The Cooper River Bridge Run draws people from across the planet to run or walk across one of America’s great harbors.  It’s become the third-largest 10K in the U.S., and many say the best organized and conducted.

When it began back in 1978, 766 runners crossed the old Silas Pearman Bridge from Mount Pleasant heading into downtown Charleston.  It’s come a long way since then.  In recent years almost 40,000 runners and walkers cross the graceful expanse of the Ravenel Bridge over the Cooper River on race day.

The field includes world class elite runners, wheelchair racers, folks in funky costumes, people of all ages, groups running or walking together for charity or camaraderie  -  encouraged by a variety of bands playing along the race route.  The course starts on Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant and ends on Meeting Street downtown, followed by a post-race afterparty at Marion Square.

Race day traditionally falls on the first Saturday in April, unless that is Holy Week (in which case it’s moved to the last Saturday in March).

The 2025 Bridge Run, the 48th running of the race, will take place on April 5th.

Based on recent rates, registration opens at $50 per person, or $150 for a charity connection registration.  Regular registration increases as you get closer to the race ($55 per person starting on September 1st, $60 on January 1st, $65 on March 1st, and $70 on March 30th).  Registration spaces tend to go fast... just like the runners.  If you're interested, you'd better sign up early before slots sell out.

NOTE: Early February is the deadline to register if you want your name custom printed on your bib and your race packet mailed to you.

Otherwise, you can pick up your Bridge Run packet and check out a slew of fun vendors and booths at the Bridge Run Expo, on the Thursday and Friday before the race.  It's held at the Charleston Area Convention Center, at 5001 Coliseum Drive in North Charleston.  Hours for the Bridge Run Expo are noon till 8:00 p.m. on the Thursday before, and 8:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
