A fun new Halloween event, all about the pups, for a good cause, dovetailing with Second Sundays on King.

Wag-O-Ween

Dogs in cute costumes… what could be better?

This brand new event in 2022 happened during October’s Second Sunday on King.  You were encouraged to dress up your canine and trick-or-trick at the shops and businesses along King Street.   It was such a success that it's back in 2023 by popular demand.  Hopefully it will be back in 2024, so stay tuned as the calendar approaches October.

Check in for the contest takes place between 1:00 and 2:00 at the corner of King and Society Street.  (You’ll need to have preregistered online; see below for how.)  Then, head to Charleston Place for the big event, the Wag-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest.

Get set for:

  • Trick-or-Treat swag bags for all participants;
  • Prizes and awards in many categories, like most creative, funniest and cutest costume;
  • Celebrity judges, including Shep Rose (aka Little Craig’s dad) from Southern Charm, as well as Jim Stuckey, former NFL player and All-American at Clemson;
  • Demos by the Charleston Police Department’s K-9 Unit;
  • The tax deductible registration fee is $20, and proceeds go to the LENS Foundation, which supports CPD’s K-9 Unit.

You need to register ahead of time, and spots are going fast.  You can register here.
