Sip & Stroll at Drayton Hall

Drayton Hall dates all the way back to 1738 and is both a historical treasure and a Charleston must-see.  In fact, Conde Nast Traveler named it the “Best Place to See in South Carolina.”

Staff have come up with a new event that has already proven to be quite popular  -  afternoon Sip & Strolls on the grounds of Drayton Hall.

They’ve developed a wonderful new Landscape Audio Tour, which you can listen to as you make your way across the grounds and hear history come alive… all while sipping a curated libation.

Exact dates and details for 2027 haven't been announced yet, so stay tuned.  but here's what was on tap in 2024….

• Strolls take place on certain dates in months March, April, May, June, August, October and November;
• Sip & Strolls may feature special appearances by musical groups like members of the Charleston Opera Theater singing songs and arias from favorite composers;
• Strolls last from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in fall or 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in warmer months; check website for details;
• For ages 21 and up only;
• Beers include select local creations like Helles Golden Lager from Westbrook and Something Old from Edmund’s Oast;
• Wines are specially selected for each stroll.  Past sips included 2015 Nero d'Avola, Isle Saint-Pierre Rouge IGP Mediterranee Red Blend,  Domaine Vetriccie Rosé Ile de Beauté, Protocolo - Vino de la Tierra de Castilla Tinto, and Domaine Isle Saint Pierre White Blend;
• Admission includes a complimentary wine glass or koozie;
• Tickets are $40 each for non-members, or $35 for members;
• Incuded is access to Caretaker’s House Exhibit, Gallery Exhibit, African American Cemetery, Gift Shop, and River Walk;
• Drayton Hall is located at 3380 Ashley River Road, west of the Ashley River in Charleston.
