Head to Marion Square for some interfaith fun and food.

Everyone is invited to the annual Chanukah in the Square celebration in downtown Charleston.  It’s a festive time with loads of free food like hot potato latkes, warm donuts, hot pretzels, chicken soup, hot dogs, burgers and kettle corn.

There will also be live music, dancing, crafts and games for the kids, Chanukah giveaways and treats, and fun activities for all ages.

All of it will be capped off with the traditional lighting of the giant menorah by the community at dusk, led by Holocaust survivors.

It’s the largest annual Jewish event in the state of South Carolina.   Chanukah in the Square is sponsored by the Norman J. Arnold Foundation, the College of Charleston Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program, the Chabad of Charleston - Center for Jewish Life, the City of Charleston’s Office of Cultural Affairs, and many other community organizations.

It’s family-friendly, completely free of charge, and no ticket or RSVP is required.  It lasts from 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m.

NOTE: Date for 2024 is tentative.  Check back close to the event for the latest info.
