MOUNT PLEASANT
From April 12, 2011 to October 18, 2011, shop the local farmers' market every Tuesday from 3:30pm until dark. Located at 645 Coleman Boulevard near Moultrie Middle School, it's a popular neighborhood event. Shop for fresh locally grown produce, baked goods, flowers and other treats while enjoying live music and mingling with the natives. Dinner from French crepes to southern barbecue is available from numerous food vendors, and there are activities for the kids. Take Palm Boulevard (Route 703) to Sullivan's Island, follow 703 across the drawbridge into Mt. Pleasant and continue till you see the school. The market is on the left; there is parking on the right. Can't miss it.
DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON
The Charleston Farmers' Market is held every Saturday from 8am till 2pm (from April 12th through December 18th) at Marion Square, located at the corner of King and Calhoun Streets downtown. Offering a vibrant variety of all things grown or made locally, it's a great way to get a taste of the Lowcountry, and there are delicious options for brunch/lunch on the go or things to cook for dinner. It was recently named one of the top five farmers’ markets in the country by Travel & Leisure magazine. It's bigger than ever this year with even more talented vendors and artisans.
BOONE HALL FARMS STORE/U-PICK
Boone Hall Plantation is also a working farm, producing crops for over 320 years. Their store - located just north of the Isle of Palms, at 2521 Highway 17 North in Mt. Pleasant - offers foods grown on the plantation as well as other delectable local items. They also have u-pick fields that are open seasonally, where you can pick your own strawberries, tomatoes, pumpkins, and other fruits and vegetables.
