Two nearby county parks provide great facilities for visitors. The Isle of Palms County Park, located at the end of 14th Avenue straight across as you come off the IOP Connector, provides beach showers, changing rooms, parking, snacks, beach equipment rentals, picnic areas, a sand volleyball court, and lifeguards during peak seasons.
In nearby Mount Pleasant, Palmetto Islands County Park offers miles of paved trails, boardwalks through the marsh and forests, Nature Island, open playing meadows, a recently renovated children's "Big Toy" playground area, bike and paddleboat rentals (you can ride the boats through the scenic lagoons), a kayak launch, horseshoe pits, snack facilities, two large "bark park" off-leash dog exercise and agility areas, a 50-foot observation tower, and Splash Island, a large waterpark. Palmetto Islands County Park is located about 10 minutes from the Isle of Palms - at 444 Needlerush Parkway, near Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant.
Also, on Folly Beach, the Edward T. Taylor Fishing Pier stretches over a thousand feet into the Atlantic. Located at 101 East Arctic Avenue, it is the second longest pier on the east coast and offers fishing, rod rentals, a full restaurant, beach access and showers and great views.
